After his graduation from high school, Michael Diehl worked as an international model for quite some years and there he found his real aim in life. Being very successful in his job, he got the opportunity to work with some of the best teachers concerning the art of photography. Ever since he started to work as a model he had been fascinated by the world “behind the scenes”.
For this reason, it was quite obvious that Michael would change his position from in front of to behind the camera at the end of his modelling career. So he began working for friends and colleagues, taking photos for their sedcards and portfolios as well as for some fashion magazines.
In 1989, Walter Ferrier, one of South Africas leading photographers, asked Michael to become his personal assistant. Together they worked on a lot of extremely exciting creations for famous fashion houses and magazines plus numerous photo shootings with top models from all over the world.
During wintertime in Europe he has taken up permanent residence in summery South Africa, and after all these years he became an expert in shootings at one of the most beautiful locations in the world: CAPE TOWN
.
The enormous artistic standards Ferrier set, the expressiveness of his pictures and his ability to shape dreams and ideas, still influence Michael’s way of working whether on his productions around Cape Town or in his own modern studio in Esslingen.
